In order to prepare Princeton students for leadership and service in an increasingly interdependent and culturally diverse world, we encourage every undergraduate to spend time abroad in a structured international experience. In doing so, students can improve their grasp of international affairs, develop an understanding of other cultures and strengthen their proficiency in foreign languages.
Today, over half of Princeton undergraduates take time away from campus to pursue international opportunities of four weeks or more. Students who have gone abroad tell us that it is a transformative experience that has had an impact on their studies as well as their life after Princeton. The Office of the Dean of the College, working in partnership with the Office of International Programs, the Council for International Teaching and Research, the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies and the Vice Provost for International Initiatives, continues to develop, support and promote meaningful international experiences as an integral part of a Princeton education. The Davis International Center offers specialized support of international students and scholars here at Princeton.
In 2012-2013, the University established strategic partnerships with Humboldt University in Berlin, the University of São Paulo, and the University of Tokyo. In addition, as part of reaccreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the University chose to focus its self-study report on Princeton’s international initiatives.
Whether in study, research, work or service, we encourage you to find the opportunity that's right for you. Visit the International Opportunities page to learn more.
