As program coordinator, Sha Sanyal, in conjunction with the deputy dean of the college, has responsibility for the management, implementation and ongoing support of all aspects of the Program of Freshman Seminars in the Residential Colleges. She manages the teaching and operational budget of the program and facilitates the faculty appointment process. She also works closely with individual freshman seminar instructors (more than 75 each year) on issues involving classroom scheduling, field trip logistics (including planning multiple international and domestic trips each year), reimbursements for visitor travel, processing of honoraria and ordering textbooks. She has primary responsibility for collecting materials, preparing the text for the annual program booklet and scheduling seminars. She also responds to hundreds of inquiries from incoming students, parents and residential college administrators about the program. In addition, she coordinates the Freshman Families weekend, handbook and newsletter.
