The Office of International Programs (OIP) serves as the primary resource for undergraduates seeking to gain experiences abroad that enhance the teaching and learning that take place on campus. As the director of OIP, Dean Kanach develops, promotes and coordinates international academic activities for Princeton undergraduates. She has oversight of the administration of the Bridge Year Program, Study Abroad, the International Internship Program and Fellowship Advising. As part of the Office of the Dean of the College, and in close partnership with the Faculty, she monitors the awarding of credit for academic work undertaken abroad. She works with other offices to educate the campus community about University travel policies and emergency procedures.
Nancy Kanach has spent most of her career at Princeton, serving as a regional director of admission and then director of studies in Mathey College before moving to the Office of the Dean of the College. After serving as dean in West College, she became the director of the Office of International Programs in 2008, when the office was created. She has taught in the Departments of Slavic Languages and Literatures and Comparative Literature at Princeton and Cornell. She has a Ph.D. in Russian literature from Cornell, serves on the editorial board of Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad, and is active in educational abroad activities and organizations.
