As deputy dean of the college, Clayton Marsh is closely involved in all matters relating to the design and content of the undergraduate curriculum. He advises and supports academic departments and programs in their efforts to create new offerings, including proposals for the 250th Anniversary Fund for Innovation in Undergraduate Education, and serves as secretary to the Faculty Committee on the Course of Study. Dean Marsh also directs the Program of Freshman Seminars and has oversight responsibility for the Princeton Writing Program, the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning, the Program in Teacher Preparation and the Community-Based Learning Initiative. He serves as the faculty athletics representative to the NCAA. 

Prior to his appointment in West College, Dean Marsh served as University counsel for nine years with an emphasis on intellectual property law and scientific research. He earned his A.B. in English from Princeton and holds graduate degrees from Stanford (M.A.), Columbia (Ph.D.) and Michigan (J.D.).
