Associate dean of the college and director of the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning Lisa Herschbach has been named head of the upper school division for a new independent school expected to open in the fall of 2017 in Bentonville, Arkansas. In her new role, effective July 1, 2016, Herschbach will design and implement the school’s educational programs, recruit and supervise faculty and staff, and direct the first admission process and related community outreach efforts.
“I have been fortunate in my time at Princeton to have had opportunities to participate in and lead a number of critical new initiatives, from the transformation of our academic advising system to the introduction of innovative teaching modalities and expanded pathways through our undergraduate curriculum,” said Herschbach. “I am grateful for these experiences, and for the incredible community of mentors and colleagues whose shared wisdom has equipped me to move in this exciting new direction.”
Herschbach first joined Princeton University in 2002 as director of studies in Mathey College, and later served as dean of Wilson College. She has served as director of the McGraw Center since 2013.
“Lisa has been a truly exceptional colleague. We will sorely miss her engaged leadership, sharp intellect, and boundless energy,” said dean of the college Jill Dolan. “We thank her for her many years of distinguished service to Princeton and wish her the very, very best in her new role.”
